Patrick Emond is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Medical Physics at McMaster University. He started working at the Centre for Appendicular MRI Studies during his Master's work on radiographic texture analysis. During this time he developed a software-based analysis tool to quantify steoarthritic effects on cancellous bone as visible in radiographs. The goal of his Ph.D. work is to explore computer-aided image segmentation and analysis of 3D images acquired by the center's peripheral MR system. The clinical goal of the project is to assess disease progression of rheumatoid arthritis in the hand by quantitative volumetric measurement of bone erosions.
